It all started in my previous role as CRO of Shore in 2021. Searching for new channels to grow our business, my teams and I had the idea of incentivizing users to refer our software. The challenge was to activate about 30,000 active business users and 1+ million private software users who schedule their appointments using Shore each month. We saw the key to activation and engagement in private monetary benefits linked to the newly referred subscriptions. This concept had been self-built by B2C companies like PayPal & Trade Republic before and helped them to go through the roof - but it was fairly new to B2B.

We were certain that this could become a new, risk-free, ROI positive and viral customer acquisition channel. The initial feedback from users was great. However, the problem was that there was no suitable out-of-the-box solution for us at Shore and the effort to self-build it was simply too high.

After talking to several growth experts, SaaS founders and investors - no one (including me) could quite believe that something like this hasn’t been productized already, given its potential to disrupt how software is sold today. Despite the great job I’ve had, I decided to take the leap and in order to realize this vision of User-led growth. Then I met Bob - and after various lunch and working meetings it became clear that there was a strong complementary skill fit but also a great vibe between us πŸ€™ So we kicked the tires …

When I met Stefan I was working at Twilio on a product called Flex β€” fully-programmable contact center that was built uniquely for developers. I also had some experience with building product-led growth into previous products I’ve worked on and knew about some of the challenges of getting this right first-hand.

While I was very interested in the possibilities of what this product could be right off the bat, it was not until Stefan and I started spending time together speaking to potential customers, end-users and investors that I became hooked. Not only did I get extremely excited about what this product could be, I also became convinced that we could be just the right co-founders to build a company and talented team to solve this problem like no other can.

The reality is that while there are a number of referral products and platforms in the market today, none have been imagined or executed in the same way our product solves the problem for our customers.

How we work

We are building a global remote-first company with local hubs where people can meet up for in-person workshops or coffee talks. Get a glimpse of our current stealth-mode, the way we work and get to know some of our faces of the growing team.

🌎 Remote-first at heart

We are miles apart, but we are still very close in the way we work together. We support different working models. Be it completely remote, a hybrid model or in a co-working space. We are flexible and can adapt quickly to new situations. It also means that we can work wherever we want (check out how we see remote-first). We currently operate in Poland, Spain, Germany, United Kingdom and Brazil. We support everyone in setting up an appropriate home office or finding a co-working space

πŸ“…Β Space for the work we love

We hold meetings when they are really necessary and keep them short. That means we spend most of the day doing what we love and do best. No hectic work, lots of flow. Our working routines are adjusted to our teams’ needs. Let us give you some examples.

This is our daily standup of our product and development team. We are building a world-class team with our colleagues at Brainhub. Scrum and regular retrospectives are important parts of our daily work and we are constantly striving to improve our processes. Check out our current tool stack .

Every Tuesday we have our weekly huddle to stay in sync on all areas of our company, from product delivery to talent & recruiting. Everyone gets to participate by sharing the latest successes in their area, while also getting support on challenges. As we grow, everyone on the team is intimately involved in influencing our strategy, the direction we take, and the way we work.

🍻 Regular in-person get-togethers in local hubs

Yes, we are sold on the benefits of remote work, but we also love getting to know each other in person. We love discussing topics outside of work. Our firm belief: To grow as a company, you need to know your colleagues, as well as your personal issues. Life and work overlap, and we want to provide the best environment to be energised both at work and at home.

We support face-to-face meetings and each team has a travel budget to meet wherever needed. At least once a quarter, we meet in person as a whole team for our Culture Week to align on our OKRs, learn new things, and have fun as a team.

This is one of our first in-person workshops with Stefan, Marius, Bob and our first office plant. Good mood and vibes guaranteed.

Having fun is always important at work and in the office, wherever that becomes....and it does not stop when we call it a day. A refreshing "Helles" in Munich or a cocktail in London is always worth the trip.
